Welcome to Reading Rainbow Rowell!

Thank you for visiting our blog, Reading Rainbow Rowell!  As the title heavily suggests, we’ll be reading the novels of Rainbow Rowell and blogging our emotions, reactions, insights, memories, hesitations, and praise.  And, to fully prepare you, we’ll probably be doing a lot of blog swooning.

We will read the novels in the order of human development; the blog will age along with the novels’ lead characters.  We will start in high school with Eleanor and Park, graduate to freshman year of college with Fangirl, move into our late twenties with Attachments, and end with the yet-to-be-published Landline.  Please read along with us!  On Monday, Emily will begin our regular blogging with a post on the first five chapters of Eleanor and Park.

If you are intrigued by this idea of close reading through blogging and would like to know more, you can check out Anna and Emily’s previous blog, Reading Jessica Darling.

  1. I wish I had known about this sooner. I started reading Fangirl the same day you started Eleanor & Park. Now I wish I’d thought about the age progression; that’s a good idea. But I’m wary of E&P because I’ve been told it’s angsty, and I don’t deal well with angst.

  2. It’s a little angst — it is set in high school, after all — but it’s also really romantic and sweet! If anything, you’ll be very prepared for when we start discussing Fangirl!

  3. wow, i’m so thankful I’ve come across this blog!!!! First at love sight with her while reading Eleonor & Park. Thanks for creating this!!!

  4. Thank you! We’re so excited about it; we hope you’ll read along with us!

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Rainbow Rowell is one of my absolute favorite authors; I was smitten after reading Eleanor & Park. Fangirl was great, too. 🙂 I can’t wait to see what comes next!

  6. Neither can we! We hope you’ll read along with our blog and comment on some of your favorite parts of the novels. And it will be a great chance for you to read Attachments if you haven’t yet!
